The last two books in the series feature the character of John "Jack" Fletcher Faoni, Fletch’s son. Fletch is also prominent in these two books although the stories are sometimes from Jack’s perspective rather than Fletch’s (it varies from chapter to chapter).

Recurring Characters

There are several characters in the Fletch series of novels that appear in two or more books. Below is a list of those characters and which books they appear in.

• Frank Jaffe- Fletch’s editor. Appears in Fletch (1974), Fletch & the Widow Bradley (1981), Fletch Won (1985), and briefly in Fletch Too (1986).
• Joan Collins Stanwyk- Alan Stanwyk’s wife (her name was changed for the movie). She appears in Fletch (1974) and in Carioca Fletch (1984)
• Alston Chambers- Fletch’s wartime buddy and friend. He is a lawyer and helps Fletch on many of his mysteries. He appears in Fletch (1974), Fletch & the Widow Bradley (1981), Fletch and the Man Who (1983), Fletch Won (1985), and Son of Fletch (1993).
• Clara Snow- Frank Jaffe’s lover and Fletch lower level boss. She appears in Fletch (1974, Fletch and the Widow Bradley (1981), and Fletch Won (1985).
• Fredericka Arbuthnot- A fellow journalist who resists Fletch’s advances. Appears in Fletch’s Fortune (1978) and Fletch and the Man Who (1983).
• Crystal Faoni- A fellow journalist and eventually the mother of Fletch’s son. Appears in Fletch’s Fortune (1978), Son of Fletch (1993), and Fletch Reflected (1994).
• Jack Saunders- Fletch’s boss in Chicago before coming to work for Frank Jaffe. Appears in Confess, Fletch (1976), and Fletch’s Fortune (1978). Is mentioned in Fletch Reflected (1994).
• Moxie Mooney- Fletch’s movie star girlfriend at various times. Appears in Fletch & the Widow Bradley (1981) and Fletch’s Moxie (1982).
• Barbara Ralton- Fletch’s first wife. She appears in Fletch (1974), Fletch Won (1985), and Fletch Too (1986).
• Linda Fletcher- Fletch’s second wife. She appears in Fletch (1974), and briefly in Fletch Too (1986).
• Carrie- Fletch’s girlfriend late in life. She appears in Son of Fletch (1993) and Fletch Reflected (1994).
• John "Jack" Fletcher Faoni- Fletch’s son and a budding newspaperman himself. He appears in Son of Fletch (1993) and Fletch Reflected (1994).
• Francis Xavier Flynn- A Boston inspector. He appears in Confess, Fletch (1976). Gregory McDonald later published three Flynn novels. Flynn (1977), The Buck Passes Flynn (1981), and Flynn’s In (1984).
